6.3 Herkules XL S120 Vapor: descaling the
vaporiser
Lime deposits can impact the ability of the vaporiser to function properly.
If water with lime content of more than 1.3 millimole of calcium oxide per
litre (hardness class I or hardness levels 1–7 in Germany) is used, the unit
typically operates properly and requires descaling on an as-needed basis
only. The unit must be regularly descaled if water with a higher lime con-
tent is used. The higher the lime content in the water used, the more often
the vaporiser must be descaled.

Descaling the vaporiser

Switch off the heater from the control unit.
Wait until the heater is completely cool, if necessary.

Connect the shut-off valve to the potable water connection.

Remove the holder and base mount.
4
Add descaler for household appliances to the water in the vaporiser.
Measure the quantity of descaler needed for 8.5 litres as specified in
the manufacturer's specifications.
