Principles of Alignment
Transmitter (Tx)
The STACK 602 has a diffused transmitter, which emits light at various angles (see
). The highest light intensity occurs in the forward direction.
Therefore, if the Transmitter is misaligned (for example, the Transmitter is not
pointing directly at the Receiver), the light level at the Receiver will be reduced.

Receiver (Rx)
The STACK 602 Receiver consists of a lens that focuses the received light onto a
small Receiver diode (see
below).
The Receiver must be aligned correctly, so the lens focuses light onto the centre
of the Receiver diode. If the Receiver becomes misaligned, the beam may miss
the Receiver diode completely. Therefore, correct Receiver alignment is
critical
for
the instrument to function.
