3) Protective clothing for working under electrical voltage
with thermal risks resulting from light arcs according
to IEC 61482-2 Ed. 1:2009 in conjunction with IEC 61482-1-2 Ed.2:2014
This protective clothing prevents the thermal impact of electrical arc faults because the
clothing is inflammable and does not melt on the skin. The protective function is only
guaranteed if the entire suit is worn. The complete personal protection also requires
additional protective equipment like a helmet/visor, protective gloves. Clothing offers
no electrical insulation. e.g. acc. to EN 50286:1999 „Electrically insulating protective
clothing for low-voltage work“.
Light arc class 1: 4kA, 0.5s
Light arc class 2: 7kA, 0.5s
4) Anti-static protective clothing acc. to EN 1149-5:2008
in conjunction with EN 1149-3:2004
Electrically conductive protective clothing for wearing in combination with
electrically conductive safety shoes on electrically conductive and grounded floors.
The antistatic efficiency is only given if the person/clothing is securely earthed,
e.g. via antistatic safety shoes acc. to EN ISO 20345 with the additional require-
ment A or work shoes according to EN ISO 20347 with the additional requirement
A. The clothing must be closed when worn. Ensure that the entire body is covered,
i.e. ensure this is combined with trousers of the same protection level. It is used in
potentially explosive areas (e.g. air-gas or air-dust mixes), it serves to avoid ignitable
discharges and may not be taken off in this area. Before using in potentially explosive
areas of Zone 0 or in the presence of explosive gas/vapours of explosion group IIC,
a special application-specific risk analysis must be conducted.
5) Chemical protective clothing acc. to EN 13034:2005+A1:2009 Type 6
Protects the wearer for a limited period against small quantities of toxic, caustic or
irritant liquid chemicals. Contact with chemicals is restricted to splashes or drips. The
tested protection effect only refers to the stated chemicals.
Care information & aging:
The PPE requires regular and correct care. Each garment has individual care information on the
label which is decisive for maintaining the protective effect. Only dry the garments in the shade
and store them in a light-protected dry place.
It is possible that the life span of the clothing can be reduced significantly due to everyday wear
or damage. Even soiling, such as dirt, moisture, sweat or fading from the effect of sunlight, can
reduce the life span of the PPE.
Possible aging factors include:
– Cleaning, maintenance or disinfection processes
– Impact of high or low temperatures or temperature changes
– Effect of chemicals including moisture
– Mechanical effects (wear, bending stress, compressive and tensile loads)
– Contamination, e.g. dirt, oil, splashes of molten metals, etc.

Care information: The clothing must be regularly re-impregnated after each washing cycle. To
maintain the chemical protection EN 13034 Tap 6 in conjunction with the flame-retardant proper-
ties of the PPE, we recommend the specially tested impregnation agent by the company Kreussler
(Hydrob FC). The impregnation agent may not impact on the other protective functions.
After each washing and drying cycle, check if there are any tears in the textile or if the elastic
bands have become brittle. Both are a sign that the protective effect of the textile can no longer
be guaranteed. Repairs can only be carried out by competent companies.
Application limits & risk analysis:
– The PPE is designed for risks associated with normal welding conditions and the broad area
of end applications with brief contact with flames and radiation, convective and contact heat.
– The clothing has no electrically insulating protective effect and is not suitable for working on
cables that carry high electrical currents.
– The limited flame dispersion is lost if the protective clothing is soiled with flammable or highly
flammable materials e.g. : oils, fuels, etc.
– To ensure appropriate all-round protection, additional PPE should be worn on the
head, face, hands and feet.
– Independent modifications are not allowed for safety reasons.
– There is a risk of burns, caustic burns or electrical shocks if the clothing is damaged or soiled,
is not worn correctly or the safety information is not observed.
– Also, there is a risk of irreversible damage, if the effect of the risk exceeds the tested value or
the tested duration and occur in combination.
