Plan a lifting operation

In this chapter, the planning activities for a lifting operation are described.

1. Record

your

planning activities in the checklist given in Appendix A

“

Checklist for planning

”.

2. Make sure the following information is available:

Mass of the load

Centre of gravity of the load

Dimensions of the load

Allowable

ground

bearing

pressure

3. Determine the lifting height

4. Consider the following subjects:

Lifting capacity of the header beams

Is additional foundation underneath the skid tracks necessary?
