DisplayPort (DP++) Output
The DP output supports use of MST Hub, and Passive/Active Adapters.
MST Hub can support up to 3 display output with total bandwidth up to 21.6Gbps.
- Example of bandwidth usage for common resolutions:
- 1920x1080 @60hz - 22%
- 1920x1200 @60hz - 30%
- 2560x1440 @60hz - 35%
- 2560x1600 @60hz - 38%
- 3840 x 2160 @30hz - 38%
- Some situations where MST Hub would be required:
- To connect 2-3 panels with only mDP/DP input available.
- To connect 2-3 panels with resolutions higher than 1920x1200.
- Note that quality and behavior of MST hubs differ, so compatibility with your setup should be checked if
planned used.
Passive adapter or adapter cable can be used to connect DP++ output to a HDMI or DVI input, but with resolution
limited to 1920x1200 @60Hz.
Active adapter must be used to connect DP to HDMI or DVI-D (Dual Link) with higher resolutions, or to connect to
VGA (analog).
- Active DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 adapter can support up to 3840x2180 @60Hz resolution on HDMI 2.0 compatible
panel.
- Note that many active adapters on the market only support HDMI 1.4. Max resolution will then be
limited to 3840x2160 @30Hz.
- Active DP 1.2 to DVI-D (Dual Link) can support up to 3840x2160 @30Hz resolution on panel with DVI-D.

- Single Link active adapters will be limited to 1920x1200 @60Hz.
- Active DP to VGA adapter can support up to 1920x1200 @60Hz.
Note that due to limitations in Graphics Chip max 3 display outputs can be active.
Usage example illustrating bandwidth limitation
Output 1 via DisplayPort = 1920 x 1080 (2K)
Output 2 via DVI-D = 1920 x 1080 (2K)
Output 3 via DVI-I through VGA Dongle = 1024 x 768, or lower.
The available bandwidth for the MST Hub reached its limit of 21.6Gbps and can therefore not generate Output 3 as a
clone of Output 2 with the same resolution. Resulting image may be distorted and might be scaled down to the max
resolution possible in this scenario for Output 3.
