TDP (Thermal Design Power)
TDP (Thermal Design Power)
TDP limit defines the maximum power the CPU/GPU chip can use, measured in Watts.
The available options for HT B30 are Nominal and TDP Down.
- Nominal (15W for all CPU variants) is default setting with standard performance.
- TDP Down (10W for Celeron, 7.5W for i5/i7) option can be set to lower allowed power usage.
TDP Down can be set in environments where lower heat or power usage is required, and where the full performance
capabilities of CPU/GPU are not required.
Setting TDP Down will reduce peak performance of the system as the CPU/GPU will clock down when the total load
is higher than the set limit. This is especially noticeable if using software that are running both CPU and GPU at high
load simultaneously.
Procedure to change TDP mode:
1. Press Del key during boot (shortly after you hear the beep) to enter BIOS.
2. Go to “Advanced -> CPU Configuration
3. Select “Configurable TDP Boot Mode” and set mode.
a. Nominal (15W, standard)
b. TDP Down (lower allowed power usage)
Celeron
3955U:
10W
I5-6300U and i7-6600U: 7.5W
4. Press F10 and Enter to save settings and reboot.
