1. Engine Oil - Filling
A. General
(1) This task gives the procedures to fill the engine oil system.
(2) There are two oil-filler necks in the engine, one installed on the external
side of the main oil tank and one on the external side of auxiliary oil tank.
The engine oil-filler neck is part of the oil filler-cap assembly.
B. Job Set-Up
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS IN A SAFE
CONDITION BEFORE YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURES. THIS IS TO PREVENT INJURY TO
PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THERE WILL BE NO ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION OF THE ENGINES. AN ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION OF THE ENGINES CAN CAUSE INJURY TO
PERSONS.
(1) Do the procedures to make the aircraft safe for maintenance (GHSH TASK
20-00-00-910-801-A/200).
(2) Make sure that the engines are not operating during the oil filling proce-
dure.
(3) Put the workstand in the work area.
(4) Open the oil servicing door (Figure 301).
(5) Open the oil filler cap.
C. Engine - Oil Filling
WARNING: OBEY ALL POWERPLANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. IF
YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL DURING THE POWERPLANT
MAINTENANCE,
INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR
DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: DO NOT LET JET FUEL AND LUBRICATING OILS TOUCH
YOU. THESE FLUIDS CAUSE INJURY TO THE SKIN.
(1) Fill the engine oil system as follows:
a) Make sure that the oil-tank drain plug is installed and tightened.
b) Add oil until the oil level is at the MAX mark on the oil level sight glass
(Figure 301). PW&C does not recommend the casual mixing of different
approved brands of the same oil type or mixing of different types of oil.
Refer to last revision of AFM (Airplane Flight Manual) to check the list of
approved engine oils.
NOTE : The engine oil capacity is 8.14 l.
