EL 9000 B 15U/24U Series
1.9
Construction and function
1.9.1 General description
The electronic DC loads of the EL 9000 B 15U and EL 9000 B 24U series have been designed for industrial high
current and high power demands. Configured as mobile 19” cabinets in either 15 or 24 units of height they allow
for operation in many different situations, such as high current battery or motor tests.
Both series are based on the 7.2 kW models of series EL 9000 B and thus offer the same set of functions and
control options.
For remote control using a PC or PLC the devices are provided as standard with an USB slot on the rear side of
the master unit, as well as a galvanically isolated analog interface.
Via optional plug-in modules, another digital interface with RS232, Profibus, ProfiNet, ModBus TCP, CANopen,
CAN or EtherCAT can be added. These enable the devices to be connected to standard industrial buses simply
by changing or adding a small module. The configuration, if necessary at all, is quick and easy. Thus the electronic
load cabinets may, for example, be controlled in connection with other load devices or even other types of equip
-
ment, all via a PC or PLC and using the digital interfaces.
All models are controlled by microprocessors. These enable an exact and fast measurement and display of actual
values.
1.9.2 Block diagram
The block diagram illustrates the main components inside the device and their relationships.
There are digital, microprocessor controlled components (KE, DR, BE) inside which can be target of firmware
updates. The units are separate power modules, each with their own AC input and DC input. There is a master
unit and up to 5 slave units which don’t feature a control panel (HMI).
