5.5 System verifications
5.5.1 Monitoring the status LEDs
The LEDs on the Control Unit’s front panel indicate whether the unit is working properly.
On all units that have been cabled correctly, the
POWER
,
FSK
, and
STATUS
LEDs should be lit
green when the unit is turned on and fully booted up. No LEDs should be lit red. It is normal
that the
RX
/
TX
LEDs flicker. They light up when data is being transmitted or received on one
of the COM ports. See Chapter 6 for complete troubleshooting details.
5.5.2 Checking the programming information
The
prog?
command displays the Control Unit’s parameters that were set at the time the
unit was programmed. To view the programming information:
1. Start a session with a terminal and log on with your password (see Chapter 3).
2. At the CU4> prompt, type the command
prog?
and press <Enter>. This displays the
programming information.

5.5.3 Checking the RAM
The
chkram
command checks the content of the random-access memory (RAM). This
function does not corrupt the status of the subscribers. It saves the content, writes a test
value, checks that the test value was correctly written, then restores the initial content. If a
problem occurs, you will see the message Could not write to location xxxxx Status RAM
error.
To check the Control Unit’s primary RAM or additional RAM:
1. To check the Control Unit’s primary RAM on the main board, type
chkram
at the CU4>
prompt and press <Enter>.
The system requires a certain delay to check the RAM, and then displays the test results.
CU4>chkram
