Installing the mounting rack
Tile roof, type A:
Sloped roof assembly, vertical
Install the rails on the roof hooks
•
Screw the mounting rails onto the
roof hooks previously installed on the
roof.
•
Place the rail on the bearing surface
of the roof hook from the front and
used a self-tapping screw (Torx T50)
to fasten it to the roof hook.
•
Realign the mounting rack before
tightening the screws.
•
Align the rails so that they are com-
pletely straight and parallel to each
other (upper and lower row).

Tools required:
•
Torx (T50) for self-tapping screws
(accessories)
Fasten the roof hooks
Tools required:
•
Socket set with ratchet
•
Socket, at least 120 mm deep
•
17-mm socket wrench or socket
Screw the base plate directly to the
rafters using two lag bolts. Make sure
of the following:
•
The base plate must cover the entire
width of rafter and must be located at
the edge of a trough in the roof tiles;
•
Install parallel to the tiles. Use the
wood shims provided (2 x 3 mm, 2 x 5
mm) if necessary. If the tiles are still
too high, install a thin piece of wood
underneath the base plate.
•
Predrill the rafters using a 6 mm
drill bit.
All roof hooks must be parallel and
be located so that the clearance to
the roof battens or tiles is the same!
Tip: Start by installing the first and last
roof hook of each row at the appropri-
ate locations and tie a string between
the two hooks of each row. Draw the
string tight and use it as a guide to po-
sition the intermediate roof hooks.
Shape and replace roof tiles
•
Use a grinder to remove unwanted
corners or projections from the tiles.
•
The upper and lower roof tiles may
have to be shaped.
•
Replace the roof tiles, making sure
they are properly seated.
