AIM2505A Technical Manual V2.03
Preparations
Following equipment is needed:
A Coach Computer rack with a power supply (PSV) and a CPU module
The AIM module that needs the troubleshooting
Any other modules so that the Coach Computer is operating
Suitable power supplies for the rack PSV
A PC with a Terminal program
A CDM1425A cable (from EKE Electronics Ltd.) between the PC and the CPU
A multimeter
Visual check
6.3.1 Circuit board
If a fault is suspected in a module, first check for visible signs of damage, such as
disconnected component legs, cold junctions, bent connector pins, traces of smoke,
burns etc.
6.3.2 Cabling
Check that all cabling is correct according to the project-specific cabling diagram.
Also check that the cables and wires are undamaged and attached properly.
Getting started with troubleshooting
To be able to troubleshoot the AIM module, a Remote Terminal link between the
Coach Computer CPU module (e.g. CPG/CPR/CPS) and AIM module has to be
enabled and working properly.
As the AIM module does not have an external terminal port to access the module for
troubleshooting purposes, the CIAO software of the Coach Computer CPU features
a Remote Terminal connection to the I/O cards.
The operating system of the CPU module is Linux. To be able to use the Remote
Terminal require some basic Linux console (command line) knowledge from the
user. The Technical Manual for the CPU module in question will have a section
covering this.
