A qualified technician should install and service this device.
•
Do not switch the device on immediately after it has been exposed to changes in temperature. Protect the
device against damage by leaving it switched off until it has reached room temperature.
•
This device is designed for professional use on stage, in discos, theatres, etc. The VDL50CM2 can be used
indoor (< 45°C, < 50%RH) with an alternating current of 230 VAC~50 Hz. The max. temperature for the
housing is 130°C.
•
Lighting effects are not designed for permanent operation: regular operation breaks will prolong their lives.
•
Use the original packaging if the device is to be transported.
•
Keep this manual for future reference.

Installation
a) Installing or Replacing a Lamp
CAUTION: Only install a lamp when the device is unplugged from the mains and replace it if it has been
damaged in any way.
•
The lamps can reach temperatures of up to 700°C during operation, so you should let them cool down
for at least 10 minutes before replacing them
•
Do not touch the halogen bulbs with your bare hands. Use a cloth to handle the lamps during insertion
and removal.
•
Do not install lamps with a higher wattage as they generate higher temperatures than those for which
the device is designed.
•
Use one 12V/50W JDC G6.35 lamp with reference LAMP50/12E.
Procedure
1)
Unscrew the thumbscrew on the bottom of the housing (under the lens)
2)
Flip the cover open.
3)
If replacing the lamp, remove the old lamp from the socket and insert a new one.
4)
Close the cover.
5)
Fix the screw.
Note: Do not operate the device with an open cover!!
b) Mounting the Device
Remark: Please consider the contents of EN 60598-2-17 and your own national norms during installation. A
qualified technician should carry out the installation!
•
The supporting structure for the device must be able to carry 10 times the required weight for one hour
without deformation of that structure.
•
The installation must always be secured by a secondary safety attachment e.g. a safety cable (VDLSC7
or VDLSC8).
•
Do not stand directly below the device when mounting, removing or servicing it. Have a qualified
technician check the installation once a year and once before you bring the device into service.
Procedure
•
Install the device in a location with few passers-by that is inaccessible to unauthorised persons.
•
Overhead mounting requires extensive experience: calculating work load limits, determining the
installation material to be used… Have the material and the device itself checked regularly. Do not
attempt to install the device yourself if you lack these qualifications as improper installation may result
in injuries.
•
Make sure there is no flammable material within a 50cm radius of the device.
•
A qualified electrician should carry out the electric connection.
•
Connect the device to the mains with the power plug. In general, lighting effects should not be
connected to dimming packs.
•
The installation has to be approved by an expert before the device is taken into service.
•
You will find a selector on the back panel. Three operation modes are available: music-controlled,
continuous rotation or static operation. When you select music-controlled operation, you can adjust the
sound sensitivity of the built-in microphone with the knob on the rear panel. Adjust the sensitivity until
the movement of the beams is satisfactory.
