Capturing Video from a Video Tape
into Your Computer
Here’s how to capture analog video from VHS or 8 mm video into your computer.
* You will need to separately obtain DV recording software.
1
Turn the audio input level knob [AUDIO LEVEL] all the way toward the left.
2
Set the brightness [BRIGHT], color depth [COLOR], color hue [HUE], and contrast
[CONTRAST] knobs to the center position.
3
Press the analog input button [ANALOG IN].
The button’s indicator will light.
4
Play back your video deck.
5
Turn the audio input level knob [AUDIO LEVEL] toward the right, and set it so it’s a little
before the position at which the red indicator lights.
If the red indicator lights, the sound is distorting.
6
Adjust the brightness [BRIGHT], color depth [COLOR], color hue [CUE], and contrast
[CONTRAST] knobs until you are satisfied with the image.
You can switch the time base corrector button [TBC], 3D Y/C separator button [3D Y/C],
and automatic brightness adjustment button [AGC] on/off as necessary.
* The 3D Y/C separator button [3D Y/C] applies only to a composite input signal in NTSC mode.
7
Stop your video deck, and rewind the playback location to the beginning.
8
Start recording on your computer.
For the procedure, refer to the manual of the software you are using.
9
Play back your video deck.
10
When you have finished recording, stop the video deck.
