When using this product in the field of rescuing and Personal
Protective Equipment, we recommend that the relevant nation-
al regulations be observed.
Before using the equipment, the user must ensure that, in the
event of falling into the PPE-system, the person caught can be
rescued immediately, safely and effectively.
Personal Protection Equipment products may only be used to
belay people.
PRODUCT-SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Lanyards according to EN 354, (where applicable with integrated
shock absorber according to EN 355),
SHOCK ABSORBERS ACCORDING TO EN 355
When using a lanyard (fall arrest system) please be aware that
lanyards including shock absorbers, Terminations and connectors
must not exceed a total maximum length of 2.0 m.
Lanyards may not be attached using knots, shortened or
lengthened.
It should be noted that even appropriate knots can reduced the
strength of webbing and slings by up to 50%.
The lanyard may only be attached to a reliable anchor point, a
fall arrest harness or other components of the fall arrest
system.
If the lanyard is supplied without karabiners and without shock
absorbers, please note the following: A lanyard without shock
absorbers according to EN 355 may not be used in a fall arrest
system, connectors (karabiners) for lanyards according to EN 354
must comply with EN 362.
Prior to using a fall arrest system, please ensure that the nec-
essary free space in the work area (unobstructed height) of 7 m
underneath the user is provided for. Lanyards without shock
absorbers are used as restraint systems for work positioning.
The range of motion of the user should be limited so that there
is no possibility of him/her entering a fall risk area.
LANYARDS FOR ADVENTURE AND ROPE PARKS ACCORDING
TO EN 354
Caution! Use of this type of equipment requires that the impact
forces on the steel cables in the Adventure Park do not exceed
6kN.
In fall risk areas, the lanyard may only be used in conjunction
with two simultaneously fastened karabiners. Karabiners may
only be moved from a secure position and must be done one
after the other so that one karabiner is always clipped to the
cable!
When using this system with a harness according to EN 12277,
the lanyard must be attached to the attachment point of the
harness using an appropriate connection method such as a
girth hitch (see Figure 1) or karabiners according to EN 362.
When using this system with a fall arrest harness according to
EN 361, safe attachment takes place at the fall arrest attach-
ment points (A), any individual connectors (karabiners) must
comply with EN 362 and should be attached to these (A).
GENERAL INFORMATION ON CHOOSING AN ANCHOR
POINT, SAFETY, PRODUCT LIFE, STORAGE, CARE AND
IDENTIFICATION
All adjustable parts must be checked regularly during use.
ANCHOR POINT
In order to avoid high loads and swinging falls in the event of a
fall, anchor points for belay purposes must always be as vertical
as possible above the person being belayed. The lanyard from
the anchor point to the person secured should always be kept
as taut as possible. Slack rope must be avoided! The anchor
point must set up in such a way that, when fixing the PPE,
nothing can occur that could reduce the stability and cause
damage during use. Sharp edges, ridges and crushing can se-
riously impair the stability of the anchors. These should be
covered, where necessary, using suitable auxiliary equipment.
The anchor point and the anchors must be able to withstand
the expected loads in a worst-case scenario. Even when using
shock absorbers (according to EN 355) the anchor points
should be designed to hold shock loads of at least 10 kN, see
also EN 795.
SAFETY NOTICES
When combining this product with other components, one
should be aware that the individual safety aspects of one prod-
uct may interfere or be inhibited by another product.
