10.2 Telephone functions
The Ex-Handy 04 includes functions which are
very useful in everyday life, e.g. clock, alarm-
clock, countdown-counter, games, calculator,
calendar and task list.
Due to Ex-relevant reasons, the internal
vibration motor had to be removed.
ecom instruments GmbH advises against the use
of an external vibrating unit outside of the Ex
area since it could damage the mobile phone.
10.2.1 Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a standard technology which offers
portable connectivity between compatible devi-
ces within a range of a max.10 metres. No char-
ge is made for the interconnection of individual
devices using Bluetooth. In certain countries
there are restrictions concerning the use of
Bluetooth enabled devices. To obtain information
on this subject, please apply to the local
authorities.
10.2.2 GPRS
(General Packet Radio Service)
The GPRS technology enables mobile
telephones to transmit data via the mobile tele-
phone network. Applications which use GPRS

that it complies with the European R&TTE directi-
ve. An important requirement of this directive is
the protection of the health as well as the safety
of the user and other persons. When this model
of telephone was tested for compliance with the
standard, the highest SAR value measured was
0,82 W/kg. Even allowing for fluctuations of the
SAR values between various telephones and
positions, the requirements of the European
Union have been fully complied with in all cases.
* The upper SAR values for mobile telephones in
normal use lies by 2,0 Watt/kilogram (W/kg) as
average value per 10 gr. tissue.
This upper value includes a large margin of safe-
ty for the protection of persons and in conside-
ration of possible variations in measurement. The
SAR values can vary depending on national
regulations and the type of network

10.1 Network services
The Ex-Handy 04 described here is
approved for use on GSM 900, GSM 1800 and
GSM 1900 Networks.
Some of the functions described in these
instructions are known as network services.
These are special services which when reques-
ted by the user can be made available by his
