SERVICE & MAINTENANCE

WARNING

BEFORE INSPECTING OR SERVICING ANY PART OF THIS MACHINE, SHUT OFF POWER SOURCE,

AND MAKE SURE ALL MOVING PARTS HAVE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.

5.11 DRIVE BELTS

Check the condition of the drive belt annually or after

every 25 hours of operation, whichever comes first. If the

belt is cracked, worn, frayed, or stretched, replace it. To

replace the belt:
1.

Disengage PTO and shut off tractor engine.

2.  Remove PTO shaft from tractor and disconnect

machine from three-point hitch.

3.  Remove the round shield connected to the belt guard

that covers the PTO shaft by removing the two 5/16"

nuts.

4.  Remove the PTO shaft from the chipper/shredder by

loosening the two set screws and pulling the shaft off.

5.  Install new belts and make sure pulleys are alligned

to within 1/16". If not, adjust pulleys.

6.  Reinstall belt shields and guards. Install PTO shaft

and tighten the two set screws. Install PTO shield.

Never run PTO without all shields in place.

1.  Loosen and remove the 3/8" carriage bolt securing

the knife access cover.

5.12 REMOVING THE ROTOR

The rotor weighs in excess of 100 lbs. It is extremely

important to support the rotor to prevent it from falling

or shifting as the shaft is removed.

WARNING

2.  Open the access cover, exposing the chipper

shredder compartment.

3.  Loosen the bushing bolts holding the drive pulley to

the shaft and remove the pulley.

4.  Loosen the set screw in the lock collars. Using a

punch and hammer, tap the lock collars in a direction

opposite of normal rotation so that they can be

removed.

5.  Unbolt bearings and lift rotor out of machine.
6.  Remove bearings from rotor shaft.
7.  Re-install rotor assembly and bearings and tighten

bolts to proper torque.

5.13 PTO DRIVELINE LUBRICATION

1.

Every  8  hours,  lubricate  PTO  cross  journals.  Make

sure grease purges through all four bearings.

2.  Every 8 hours, lubricate PTO inner tubes. Telescoping

members must have lubrication to operate

successfully.  Telescoping  members  without  fittings

should be pulled apart and grease should be added

manually with a brush.

3.  Every 8 hours, lubricate the PTO shield retaining

bearing. Molded nipples on the guard near each

guard  bearing  are  intended  as  grease  fittings  and

should be lubricated every 8 hours of operation.

To  prevent  personal  injury  or  property  damage:

Disconnect the PTO driveline from the source providing

power or disconnect the driveline from the chipper

and make sure that all moving parts have come to a

complete stop, before servicing, adjusting or repairing.
