4. Use a pin vise and 5/64-inch (2mm) drill bit
to drill the four holes for the fan mounting screws.
Make sure to drill the holes against the tabs of the
housing so the fan does not slide forward or aft in
the fuselage.
You can also mount the pin vise in a drill
so it can reach down inside the fuselage,
saving some time when drilling the holes.
5. Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to thread a 3mm
x 10mm self-tapping screw into each of the four
holes for mounting the fan unit.
6. Remove the screws and place 2–3 drops of
thin CA in each hole to harden the surrounding
wood. This hardens the wood, making the screws
more secure.
7. Secure the fan unit to the fuselage using four
3mm x 10mm self-tapping screws. Tighten the
screws using a #1 Phillips screwdriver.
8. Use hobby scissors to trim the fan cover. Make
sure to make an opening in the top for the fan
fairing as well.
