5. Thread a nylon control horn on each end of
the threaded rod. Position the horns so they are
flush with the ends of the rod. Also make sure the
distance from the rudder surface to the control horn
is equal on both sides.
6. Use a pin vise with a 1/16-inch (1.5mm) drill bit
to drill a hole in the center of the two hinge slots in
the rudder and fin.
7. Place a T-pin in the center of each of the hinges
as shown. You will need to prepare two (2) hinges
in this step.
8. Slide the two (2) hinges into the slots in the
rudder. The T-pins will center the hinges so an equal
amount of hinge is in both the rudder and fin.
9. Test fit the rudder into position using the hinges.
Make sure the tail gear wire is positioned in the
rudder as well. The rudder should fit tightly against
the stabilizer in this step. If it does not, check to
determine why and correct as necessary.
