2.7.2 Description
The Dräger FPS 7000 RP and Dräger Panorama Nova RP
masks are available in various versions:

as full face mask (consisting of mask body and head
harness or hairnet).

as mask/helmet combination (consisting of mask body with
S-fix or Q-fix mask/helmet adapter and associated helmet).
All Dräger FPS 7000 RP and Dräger Panorama Nova RP
masks have a wiper.
One Dräger FPS 7000 RP model is equipped with a drinking
valve. A drinking tube can be used to connect a CamelBak
®
hydration reservoir to the Dräger FPS 7000 RP. This hydration
pack is not suitable or approved for fire usage, however.
Optionally, the Dräger FPS 7000 RP and Dräger Panorama
Nova RP can be equipped with a telephone device ("mine
telephone") or a Dräger MS-COM. Special goggles are
available for users who wear spectacles.
The masks are suitable for operating temperatures from -40
o
C
to +60
o
C.
Intended use
The Dräger FPS 7000 RP and Dräger Panorama Nova RP
protect the face and eyes against aggressive media. They may
only be used with closed-circuit breathing apparatuses of the
type Dräger PSS BG 4 RP.
2.7.3 Before use
General instructions
Before initial use, the operator/user must ensure the following
(see European Directive 89/656/EEC):

it must fit correctly to ensure proper sealing,

the personal protective equipment must be compatible with
all other types of personal protection equipment worn at the
same time (e.g. protection jacket),

the Personal Protective Equipment must be suitable for the
ergonomic requirements and the state of health of the
person wearing the breathing protection equipment.

the mask/helmet combination needs to be carefully adapt-
ed to the equipment wearer (correct mask size, mask
adapter sachet settings and inner fittings of the helmet) due
to the rigid structure.
Strictly follow the national regulations for the use of respiratory
equipment (in Germany, e.g. BGR 190, in Australia and New
Zealand, e.g. AS/NZS 1715:2009).

the personal protective equipment must be suitable for the
respective workplace conditions,
Selecting the Correct Mask Size
The mask bodies are available in sizes S, M, L; inner masks in
sizes 1, 2, 3 and head harnesses in sizes M/L and S. In most
cases, the standard size M2 is used. If using this size cannot
ensure a sufficient tightness, another size combination must
be used.

Use the correct mask size.

Before first use, check whether the Dräger FPS 7000 RP
and the Dräger Panorama Nova RP seal tightly (see "Leak
tests").
Preparing the Dräger FPS 7000 RP and Dräger Panorama
Nova RP for Use

Fit spectacle kit, if required

If necessary, install the telephone device or Dräger MS-
COM

Remove protective film from visor.

Soak the wiper with anti-fog agent "klar-pilot" fluid. Apply
the anti-fog agent to the inside of the visor and wipe off with
a lint-free cloth until the visibility through the screen is
good.
Do not operate screen wiper in a dry condition.

If the Dräger FPS 7000 RP is equipped with a drinking
valve, make sure the protective cap is attached to the
drinking valve. As an alternative, the drinking tube can
simply be inserted onto the drinking valve.

Lay the carrying strap around the neck and fasten mask in
the standby position.
WARNING
The S-fix and Q-fix mask/helmet adapters may only be
used in combination with a helmet which has the
correct mask fastening plate (Figure J).
Otherwise the mask/helmet combination could
become leaky and there is a danger of intoxication.
NOTICE
Full face masks must not be retrofitted, or the approval
will be invalidated. Strictly follow the corresponding
Instructions for Use of the helmet.

WARNING
Each mask wearer must be provided with a mask of
suitable size.
Prior to use, always make sure that the masks fit
snugly. The sealing line between head and mask body
must be free of hair and foreign objects which could
cause leakages. Wearers of spectacles should use a
spectacle kit.

NOTICE
If the drinking valve is not to be used during the entire
deployment, the mouthpiece should be removed. This
will increase the wearing comfort of the mask.
