AS/400 User Guide

Determine Status of Printer

Steps:

Type "WRKCFGSTS *dev" on the command line and ENTER Key. All devices are

displayed.

From Work with Configuration Status, select the device

•

From Work With Device Descriptions, enter Option 8 next to printer and press

Enter Key

In the above example, PRT01 is active and the job that is running is QSPLJOB number

013156. From this screen:

Start A Printer

A printer is varied off by loss of power either to the printer and/or to the display that the

printer is attached to. In order for a printer to work it must be in VARIED ON and it must also

be STARTED.

From Work with Configuration Status, use option 1 to VARY ON a printer that has been

VARIED OFF.

Type "WRKWTR" on the command line and press the ENTER key to display a list of
printers and the status of the writers.

Type "STRPRTWTR xxxx" ("xxxx" is the printer name) on the command line and press

ENTER key. The printer is restarted.
