Daily Operational Tasks
New User Setup
Before working on the AS/400 you must be set up as a user so the operating system
recognizes you when you sign on. The AS/400 utilizes a user profile to make certain
determinations as to menus, security levels, program applications, etc. that you will have
access to once you are signed on.
Note: See DMS System Menu 110 Option 13 (Employee) for additional setup
considerations.
Steps:
Type "WRKUSRPRF" on the command line and press the F4 (PROMPT) key or ENTER key
OR
From Main Menu, select Option 7
From Define or Change the System, select Option 3
From Security, select Option 6
From Work with User Profiles, enter "*ALL" on the user profile line to display all active
user profiles
From the Work with User Profile screen you can create, copy, delete, display or work with
objects by owner.
The easiest and quickest way to create a user profile is to use an existing user that is already
set up. To do this, simply find a user who is currently performing similar tasks as the new
user. During initial installation process, DMS setup two (2) user profiles as clones:
User Name = "User" with Power User rights
User Name = "Limited" with more restrictive rights
You may want to setup additional clones, such as one for each department. For example
Finance, Order Entry, etc. Using this method, security profiles can be defined in detail to
reduce the customization need for each employee profile.
To create a clone or new user profile (using copy function): See Alternative Method .
Enter "3" in the Option field beside that users name and press ENTER Key.
From Create User Profile screen, enter:
