After you install the adapter and device driver in your computer, you
can use various network software products to integrate the computer
into a local area network (LAN) environment.
Features
The main features of the DE500 are as follows:
• High performance bus master, 32-bit direct memory access (DMA)
architecture.
• Easy installation on DOS-based systems using the EZWORKS
Installation utility.
• Automatic and complete installation of NetWare Client VLM using
the EZWORKS Installation utility.
• Supports IEEE 802.3u autonegotiation function (DE500-BA
and DE500-AA); supports IEEE 802.3 autosensing function
(DE500-XA).
• Supports optional boot ROM (FLASH or OTP) up to 128K bytes
(all models except the DE500-XA).
• DIGITAL-designed VLSI Ethernet chip to support high data
transfer rates for optimal network performance. The DE500-BA
and DE500-FA use the DECchip 21143; the DE500-AA uses the
DECchip 21140A; and the DE500-XA uses the DECchip 21140.
• SNMP manageable under SCO OpenServer, Windows NT, and
NetWare network operating systems.
• Allows multiple options to be installed in a host system.
