Start Pylon type SP2 (SPMO = 2)
Start Pylon type SP3 (SPMO = 3)
–
The GPS must give the first waypoint to the VL100. The VL100 then manages the
navigation to reach and validate this waypoint with standard FAI cylinder rules
and then will guide the pilot to exit from the Start Pylon radius referred to the same
waypoint.
–
Start Pylon with external cylinder validation
Start pylon with internal cylinder validation
The VL100, will show the same indications as per start pylon mode, but will use the
traditional method of navigation in approching the FAI sector of the start pylon
wp, and finally wait until you get past the start radius as set up in submenu NAV
parameter n.2 SPRA: in this case you will see the distance equal to the number of
metres left on the start radius.
The GPS must send the first competition waypoint to the VL100, the VL100 will
handle the navigation for the approach to the start.
Once you enter into the start pylon wp radius SPRA, the VL100 will consider the
start as valid.
The multifunction display will show the remaining distance to the start point.
Example: how to initialise SP2 navigation:
1.
dothis before take off
2.
switch on VL100 and check the start in NAV submenu for SPRA and SPMO
parameters
3.
make sure that VL100 doesn’t have any waypoint kept in memory (waypoint
name memory = NOWP), on the contrary it must be cancelled (see waypoint
cancellation)
4.
activate the route with the relevant task in the GPS
5.
wait for the lighting of the VL100 direction indicator’s arrows
7.
take off
Example: how to initialise SP3 navigation:
6.
visualise on the Vl100 the waypoint name by a shortly pressure
key, to
check the correct receiving of the waypoint take off
