Charging procedure battery:
• Follow the start- up procedure (after complete power off):
1. Check that both the red and black 48V cables are connected correctly.
2. Insert the service disconnect plug into the battery.
3. Connect the emergency stop contact (cable is normally marked with sticker
“emergency stop”).
4. Briefly (approx. 30 seconds) apply voltage to the AC power cable of the
charger. The charger will switch on and fully reboot the battery system.
5. Hereafter, the charger can be disconnected and the system will remain
switched on until the service disconnect is removed from the battery
system or possibly until the BMS turns the system off in case of “battery low
condition”.
• Power on the charging system by connecting the 240VAC – 50 hz – 1 phase
AC power supply here. This power supply should be fused at 16 amps.
• The system will now start charging. There are 4 charging phases:
1. Pre-charging or pre-heating stage. This phase takes place only at deep
discharge or low temperatures. A low power charge is then performed.
2. Main charging. In this phase, charging takes place with the maximum
charging current. The charger’s cooling fan is audible in this phase.
3. Balancing stage. In this phase the individual battery cells are charged to an
equal voltage. A very low current is then charged.
4. Charging finished. The charging is finalized and the State of Charge will be
calibrated again to 100%.
