The main unit processes the images shot by the camera, detects the orientation and tilting of the face and the degree the eyelids
are opened and closed, and warns the driver via voice notification or using a notification sound. The alarm types are as follows.
Inattentive Driving Alarm Sounds an alarm when the driver is driving inattentively.
Sleep Alarm
Sounds an alarm when the driver's eyes are closed while driving.
Poor Driving Posture Alarm Sounds a alarm when poor driving posture of the driver is detected while driving.
Drowsiness Alarm
Sounds an alarm when a high degree of driver drowsiness is detected while driving.
When the face of the driver is turned away for approximately two
seconds or more while driving, the driver is judged as displaying
inattentive driving, and is alerted via voice notification.
When the eyes are judged to be closed for approxi-
mately two seconds or more while driving, the driver
is alerted via voice notification.

Inattentive Driving Alarm
Sleep Alarm
•
The aim of this product is to provide voice notification or a notification sound as a alarm. This product does not guarantee that
drowsiness is relieved or accidents are prevented.
• This device learns the standard face orientation, posture, and degree that the eyelid are opened and closed of the driver after
starting. To ensure accurate judgment, the alarms do not operate until the required learning is completed.
• To complete the learning, stable facial recognition at a certain speed or higher must continue for a fixed time period. Normally,
learning is completed in about one minute when the conditions are met. However, in driving conditions such as stop-and-start ur-
ban driving, learning may take longer to complete.
• When learning is completed, the learned information is retained until the driver status monitor is shut down. However, the informa
-
tion may also reset in situations such as when a recognized abnormal state continues or the vehicle is parked for a long time.
Driver Status Monitor Features
CAUTION
•
The alarm may not operate correctly when the face cannot be detected, such as when the driver faces the rear of the vehicle.
CAUTION
•
The alarm may not operate correctly when the eyes cannot be detected, such as when the driver faces the
rear of the vehicle.
•
When the driver's face or line of sight is facing down, the driver status monitor may judge that the driver's
eyes are closed and operate the sleep alarm.
CAUTION
•
The alarm sensitivity, the time until sleeping is judged and the interval time can be changed in the DN-DSM
manager.
ADVICE
•
The time until distraction is judged and the interval time can be changed in the DN-DSM manager.
ADVICE
Alarms
•
To prevent alarms from operating continuously in a short time period, an interval is set from when a alarm operates to when the next alarm operates.
•
A priority level is set for each alarm type. During the time interval of an alarm, the same alarm or a lower priority alarm does not sound.
•
The priority, starting from the highest priority is: Sleep, Inattentive Driving, Poor Driving Posture, and Drowsiness. (Example: During the time
interval of the inattentive driving alarm, poor driving posture and drowsiness alarms do not sound.)
•
The alarm settings can be changed in the DN-DSM manager. For the setting procedure, see the DN-DSM Manager Owner's Manual.
