2. Enter the System Setup program to check the Total Memory or System Memory
setting.
See Chapter 4, “Using the System Setup Program,” in the system User’s Guide
for instructions.
Does the amount of memory installed match the Total Memory or System Mem-
ory setting?
Yes.
Go to step 10.
No.
Go to step 3.
3. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the AC
power cable from its power source.

4. Open the panel doors on top of the computer.
See “Accessing the Interior of Your System” found earlier in this chapter.
5. Remove the memory module.
Hold the module by the corners and carefully pull the module out until the edge
connectors are free from the system board connector.
NOTE: Be careful not to touch components or gold edge connectors on the
module.
6. Reseat the DIMMs in their sockets.
See “Adding Memory” in Chapter 8 for instructions on removing and replacing
DIMMs.
7. Replace the memory module.
Hold the module by the corners and then lower the module into the system with
the card-edge connector on the board aligned with the connector on the system
board and with the flat side of the module lined up against the memory retention
bracket. Ease the module down until it engages the system board connector, and
then press the module carefully but firmly into the connector.
8. Close the computer panel doors, reconnect the system to the AC power source,
and turn on the system.
9. Enter the System Setup program and check the System Memory setting again.
Does the amount of memory installed match the System Memory setting?
Yes. Go to step 10.
No. Go to step 11.
