Steering and rear
suspension tie rods
The two longer rods, the steering tie rods, make up part of the steering
system, and they will later be connected to the steering servo saver. The
shorter rod is one of two tie rods that, with a ball end screwed onto each end,
you will fit to the rear suspension. The ends of all these rods are counter-
threaded to prevent the ball ends coming loose, and to make it possible to
adjust their overall length without dismantling them.
1
As well as the parts
supplied with this stage
(excluding the ball-
headed screws), you will
need a pair of pliers and
some tissue paper, and a
caliper gauge, preferably
digital (see Step 4).
2
Because the steering
tie rod ends are counter-
threaded, to fit a ball
end on one end, you
have to screw it on
clockwise, and to fit one
to the other end, you
must instead turn it
anticlockwise.
