DESCRIPTION:
Figure 1 illustrates Talon Edge™ Self Retracting Lanyard (SRL) models covered by this instruction manual:
Talon Edge web lifeline SRLs contain 5 m long web lifelines. SRL models meet the Type A Edge test requirements of the VG
11.60 revision 6 Standard. (See Section 2.10)
The Talon Edge SRL is connected to the Dorsal D-ring location of the user’s full body harness. Talon Edge SRL models are o

with several snap hook and carabiner options. The SRLs include an integral energy absorber. The SRLs automatically lock at the
onset of a fall to arrest the falling worker, but pay out and retract during normal movement.

1.0 APPLICATIONS
1.1 PURPOSE:
DBI/SALA Talon Edge SRLs with leading edge capability are designed for use in applications where falls may
occur, including falls over edges, such as roo
fi
ng, leading edge construction, etc. SRLs are designed to be a component in
a personal fall arrest system (PFAS). SRLs may be used in many situations where a combination of worker mobility and
fall protection is required (i.e. inspection work, general construction, maintenance work, oil production, con
fi
ned space
work, etc.).
1.2 STANDARDS:
Your Talon Edge SRL web lifeline conforms to the CE standards identi
fi
ed on the front cover of these
instructions.
1.3 TRAINING:
This equipment is intended to be used by persons trained in its correct application and use. It is the
responsibility of the user to assure they are familiar with these instructions and are trained in the correct care and use
of this equipment. Users must be aware of the operating characteristics, application limits, and the consequences of
improper use.
2.0 LIMITATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Always consider the following limitations and requirements when installing or using this equipment:
2.1 CAPACITY:
The DBI/SALA Talon SRL with Leading Edge capability is designed for use by one person with a combined weight
(person, clothing, tools, etc.) of up to 141 kg for all applications including Leading Edge.
At no time shall more than one person connect to a single SRL for fall arrest applications.
2.2 ARREST FORCE:
SRLs documented in this instruction meet the following Arrest Force:
Average Arresting Force
4.0 kN
Maximum Arresting Force
6.0 kN
2.3 ANCHORAGE:
Anchorage structure for the SRL must be capable of supporting loads of at least 12 kN. Anchor devices must
conform to EN795.
The anchor point must be located at the same height or above the edge over which a fall might occur.
Failure to heed this warning may result in equipment malfunction, serious injury, or death.
2.4 RESCUE PLAN:
When using this equipment, the employer must have a rescue plan and the means at hand to implement
it and communicate that plan to users, authorized persons, and rescuers.
