Mechanical Setup
x
If you have completed lab # 3 you can move on to the software
setup. If you are starting fresh, you will first need to set up your
demo for closed loop pressure operation (see lab # 3)
Software Setup
Assuming that the drive is already set up for closed loop, you can go directly into
parameter group 3-8 (Other Ramps) and program the following parameters;
0-02 (Motor Speed Unit) - Set to “Hz”
4-12 (Motor Minimum Speed) - 20Hz
3-41 (Normal Ramp Up) - 10 seconds
3-42 (Normal Ramp Down) - 10 seconds
3-84 (Initial Ramp) - 2 seconds
3-85 (Check Valve Ramp) - 20 seconds
3-87 (Check Valve End Speed) - 10 Hz
3-88 (Final Ramp) - 1 second
20-83 (PID Start Speed) - 60Hz
In a real application, the PID start speed should be set at the point where the
system starts making pressure. For this lab it will be set to 60 Hz, which will
make the drive ramp to full speed before it starts looking at the feedback. This
will allow you to see the entire ramp profile more clearly.
Verifying Operation
9
Turn the feedback potentiometer all the way to the left
9
Start the drive with DI 18
9
Notice that it ramps up to the minimum speed (P4-12) in 2 seconds
9
Notice the drive ramps from min to max speed following the time set in P 3-41
9
Stop the drive by opening DI 18
9
Notice the drive ramps down to min speed following the time set in P 3-42
9
Notice the drive ramp from min speed to the check valve end speed (10 Hz) in 20
seconds
9
Notice the drive ramp from 10 Hz to a stop almost immediately
