Software Setup
You will want to start programming the drive from scratch. Performing an “initialization” will
reset all parameters back to the factory default. With power off, simultaneously hold down the
“status, main menu & OK” keys. Apply power and continue to hold the buttons for at least 5
seconds after you apply power to the drive.
(Setting parameter 14-22 to “initialize” and cycling power is
an alternative method)
What alarm did initializing the drive cause? _____________
After initializing the drive, the first change to be made is to parameter # 0-03, press “Main
Menu twice and change this parameter to “North America”. This will set any regional
parameters to North American defaults. After making the parameter change, if you press the
“Status” key, you will notice that the drive is now tripped on an “Alarm 60” External Interlock.
This is because parameter 5-12 automatically changes from the function “Coast
Inverse” to “External Interlock” when you change P 0-03 to North America
. Go to
parameter 5-12 and set it back to “Coast Inverse”, then you can press the “Reset” key to clear
the alarm. Now set parameter 0-02 (Motor Speed Unit) to Hz.
There is a button on the LCP that will provide a shortcut to the basic parameters necessary to
run the drive. Press the “Quick Menu” button on the top row of the LCP to enter the menu.
There are 5 different quick menus. For this lab we will use Q2. Scroll down with the arrow
keys to highlight Q2 and press the OK key. This “Quick Setup” is all that is often necessary to
set up an FC-202 for open loop control.
There are 12 parameters in the quick menu. You can use the up and down arrow keys to
scroll through the following parameters. Using the motor nameplate data, enter the correct
values into parameters 1-20 through 1-25. Set the remaining quick menu parameters to the
values shown on the next page.
