4.3.2 Cables Installation
Ensure that all low loss RF cables used to connect
t43™
to the main and diversity antennas are tested and
Insertion Loss and Return Loss information is logged.
Ensure continuity and quality of the optical fiber cables that connect
t43™
with
tHost™
(or other
t43™
if part of a
daisy-chain network). Conduct necessary testing or obtain valid test data. Professionally clean the fiber
connectors prior to connecting to
t43™
optical interfaces. Refer to Section 7.2 for optical connector cleaning
procedure.
4.3.2.1 Ground Wire Installation
1. Obtain a #6 AWG (4 mm) copper wire of appropriate length and connect one end to included ring lug.
2. Remove hex nut from the ground stud located at the bottom connector panel of the
t43™
.
3. Secure ground lug end of the ground wire to the ground stud on the unit using hex nut removed in
previous step.
4.3.2.2 RF Cables Installation
4. Obtain four low loss cables of appropriate length, terminated with N-type male connectors.
5. Remove the dust cap from N-type female connectors located on the bottom of the
t43™
.
6. Attach coaxial cables to antennas (Band 1 prime and diversity and Band 2 prime and diversity), and rout
them to the bottom side of the
t43™
.
7. Connect RF cables to appropriate
t43™
RF connectors. Apply 12-15 in-lbs/ 136 N-cm torque to secure
cables.
8. Weather seal the connectors by first wrapping two layers of electrical tape, followed by two layers of Butyl
(or similar) tape. Tape should extend about one inch beyond the connector.
Note:
t43™
unit ships with lightning surge suppressors integrated on all four antenna interfaces.
