Method of
Malfunction
Detection
The rotation speed is detected by the Hall IC while the fan motor is operating. The rotation
speed determines the error.
Malfunction
Decision
Conditions
The detected rotation speed does not reach the demanded rotation speed of the target tap, and
is less than 50% of the maximum fan motor rotation speed.
Supposed
Causes
Layer short inside the fan motor winding
Breaking of wire inside the fan motor
Breaking of the fan motor lead wires
Defective capacitor of the fan motor
Defective indoor unit PCB

Does the fan rotate?
Is there an output?
Is it the rated voltage?
∗
Does the fan rotate
smoothly?
Is it the rated voltage?
∗
Is there continuity?
Start operation.
Turn off the power supply and
rotate the fan by hand.
Check the fan motor voltage.
Turn the power on and check the
fan motor voltage. (immediately
after restart)
Check the capacitor's continuity.
Be sure to turn off the power switch before connecting or disconnecting
connectors, or parts may be damaged.
∗
Measure the voltage
between the red and black
lead wires of the fan motor,
and check if the maximum
voltage reaches the rated
voltage.
