Check the commutator for :
-Damage or abnormal wear.
→
Replace with a new
one.
-Discoloration of the commutator bar.
→
Replace with
a new one.
-Metallic debris between commutator bars.
→
Clean it
off.
●
Check for continuity between pairs of commutator
bars.
●
Make a continuity check between individual
commutator bars and the armature shaft.
●
There should be no continuity.
●
Check the bearings.
-Do not rotate smoothly.
→
Replace with a new one.
-Loose bearing.
→
Replace with a new one.
STARTER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
●
Carefully insert the armature shaft into the front
bracket.
●
Align the front bracket notch with the brush.
·
The sliding surcfaces of the brushes can be damaged
if they are not installed properly.
