Hints for maintenance and
better flash photography
The use of flash eliminates squinting and
shadows and helps show natural facial
expressions on the subject. When taking
pictures against highly reflective surfaces like
mirrors, or glass, use the bounce feature or
position yourself so that the flash is at a 45
°
to
the subject, to avoid having the flash bounce
directly back to the camera. When not in use,
switch the unit off. Take the batteries out when
the flash is being stored or when it will be
carried for a long time. Keep your flash away
from dust and moisture to prolong its life.
The flash shall not be exposed to dripping or
splashing. Batteries shall not be exposed to
excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
Dry batteries shall not be subjected to charging.
Never try to open or repair your flash since the
electric circuit inside carries a high voltage. If
your flash needs repair or does not work
correctly, please send it to your dealer.
Taking picture, AF/TTL operation
1. Flash output is controlled by your camera.
2. Focus your camera and take the picture after
ready signal is shown in the viewfinder.
3. When the subject is in darkness, the focus
assist light is automatically activated to help
your camera focus properly (according to
camera model).
Removing the flash
Loosen the Lock Ring and take the unit off
backward.
Zooming head
Wide Angle: 28mm and 35mm focal length for
35mm cameras.
Normal Angle: 50mm focal length for 35mm
cameras. Tele Angle: 85mm focal length for
35mm cameras.
To choose these positions, move the flash head
as shown. Set the Zoom Position Selector to the
same position as the Zooming Head. Flash
power can be softened (Wide) or the maximum
distance increased (Tele) according to the
requirement of your flash photography.
Note: The REAR function is only possible with
cameras featuring this facility. The
corresponding setting is made on the camera
(see operation instructions of your camera).
For Pentax, additional switch position is used for
Front curtain or Rear curtain selection.
For Canon, P mode should be set for rear curtain
synchronzation. When using with slow shutter
speed, rear curtain synchronzation is not
guarantee to work properly.
Red-eye reduction (Type P, N & 0)
Red-eye reduction flash function, which reduces
the redeye phenomenon utilizing preflash, the
preflash is discharged just before the shutter is
released which in turn reduces the red-eye
effect.
Power saving function
The flash will automatically switch off to save
power around 3 minutes after.
