Temperature Guidelines
You can safely operate the PowerStation at ambient air temperatures from
32 to 113
o
F (0 to 45
o
C). However, the temperature outside a protective
enclosure is generally lower than the internal temperature. Thus, if the
PowerStation is operating inside an enclosure at temperature levels above
its rated ambient temperature, you will need to cool the enclosure.
Enclosure Guidelines
Select an enclosure that is large enough to allow free airflow in and around
the unit. You should allow a minimum of a 2 inch gap between the enclo-
sure and the top, bottom, and sides of the PowerStation.
Also, make sure that the surface of the enclosure on which the PowerSta-
tion is mounted is flat and free of raised or depressed areas.
Backlight Accessibility Guidelines
Occasionally, you will need to replace the backlight bulb of the PowerSta-
tion. The PowerStation is designed to allow you to replace the faceplate
and backlight bulb while the unit is mounted. To do so requires you to
mount the unit so that the area surrounding the faceplate is completely
unobstructed.
See Replacing the Backlight Bulb on page 55 for more information on
replacing the backlight bulb. You can use this information as an aid in
deciding how to design the PowerStation's enclosure to allow for easy
removal of the PowerStation’s faceplate and backlight assembly.
AC Power Guidelines
If you have purchased the optional AC power supply for the PowerStation,
you must select a location that provides protection from dust, oil, moisture,
and corrosive vapors. If you have a large enough enclosure, you can mount
the power supply in the enclosure with the unit.
Note If you decide to mount the power supply in an enclosure, mounting
it flat on the bottom of the enclosure or horizontally on the side of
the enclosure provides the best convection cooling.
