Dealing with faults
Effective date

Fibre optic cable
defective or incor-
rectly connected
Perform communication test on the Trias soft-
ware – commands must arrive cleanly on the
right side
TRIA card is with-
out voltage or de-
fective
-measure 24V on the card (observe polarity)
- card must successfully perform self-test
(LEDs)
Stepper motor or
controller is defec-
tive
Measure voltages on the devices and replace
if necessary
Autofocus
does not
work, but ex-
ecutes refer-
ence run and
moves for-
wards
Laser sensor is de-
fective
-check red LED
- move an object slowly towards the sensor
and check whether the status indicator diode
changes colour (red – green – red)
Cable between la-
ser and card is in-
terrupted
Check cable condition and connection
TRIA card is defec-
tive
- replace after inspection
Layer washes
off easily and
could be
banded
Screen pre-
treatment was in-
correct
Residual chemicals on the screen
Incorrect exposure
time
- The exposure time must be aligned to the
film, type of mesh and emulsion
- film thickness must always correspond to the
established optimum speed
Screen was not
sufficiently dry
- with damp emulsions, the chemical reaction
to cure the emulsion is much slower
-
check screen drying with measuring instru-
ment
Screen was not
cured properly dur-
ing exposure
- operator forgot to activate the screen curing
- no compressed air in the system
- curing defective
Autofocus didn’t
work
- observe the autofocus during exposure
- check with the TRIA software
- check the limit value in the TRIA software
with the “?” icon
- check lead screw ascent and gain values
when autofocus is too slow
Lamp power has
decreased
- measure lamp values
- where appropriate, adjust the speed to corre-
spond to the lamp with the decreasing power
(reduce)
Position of head or
lens system has
been changed due
to an impact
- system must be readjusted by the technician
Sudden
heavy band-
ing on surface
Screen clamping
was not activated
Different layer
thickness
check samples of the layer thickness when be-
ing used
