Dealing with faults
Faults may only be rectified by personnel who, by virtue of their training and
qualifications, are authorised to and capable of executing such duties.
All work to be carried out on electrical equipment shall only be undertaken by
a qualified electrician or by trained personnel under the direction and super-
vision of a qualified electrician. Moreover, such work shall be executed in ac-
cordance with the electrical regulations.
Fault

Start Task Manager by pressing CTRL + ALT
+ DEL

look for Poly.exe in the list of processes and
end this process
Incorrect hardware
is entered in the
configuration
- Check the entry [Application] S = in the "Ma-
chine.Configuration" file
- In order to troubleshoot the problem look for
the entry [Startup Sequence] in the “Applica-
tion.Configuration” file and set the value to “0”
Program
closes auto-
matically after
each com-
mand
Main control board
not connected via
USB
- Check USB cable connection and serial
adapter
- click on “My Computer“, then “Properties“,
and then open “Hardware“. Look for the Baran
USB-board in the list of USB adaptors.
Driver not installed correctly. When prompted
for a driver, you should only run the set up.
USB cable is bro-
ken or faulty
- Try connecting a replacement cable
- A cause of the fault could be that the cable
has been incorrectly laid. The cable should not
be laid close to strong electrostatic fields and
should not be laid when coiled
- When interference occurs, attaching an addi-
tional ferrite bead can help to stabilize the sys-
tem.
USB port on the
PC is defective
- Replace the USB port on the PC and try
again
WCB-board is de-
fective
- Replace WCB-board
Immediate er-
ror message
during the
reference run,
no motor
movement
Serial cable is not
connected or is de-
fective
-Check the connection and replace the cable
Interface converter
is defect
Check the LED during command input (both
directions)
Reference run
fails and is di-
rectly followed

-Determine the cause by checking the address
(1=x-top, 2=x-bottom, 3=y)
-Check the display on the controller when the
command is sent
The controller
shows a fault
-Flashing 2 -> too rough or smooth running
-too smooth running means-no resistance
- Check coupling connections between motor
and drive
