using corrections obtained from the DGPS radiobeacons. The output
from the GBX receiver are GPS NMEA messages through the transmit
line of the data port. In this mode, GPS and beacon receiver NMEA
command and query messages are received through the data port
receive line.
You may select GB-E mode from the
Options
section of the
Setup
menu, as described in Section 3.9.1. Refer to Appendix B to connect to
an external GPS receiver. Please consult your GPS receiver user’s
guide for information regarding interface communication parameters.
3.2.3 Bx – Beacon Receiver Mode
In Bx mode, the GBX acts as a stand-alone 300 kHz DGPS beacon
receiver and outputs RTCM messages to an external GPS receiver.
Access is limited to information related to beacon receiver operation
and configuration. The receiver outputs RTCM data through the
transmit data line of the serial port, and receives beacon configuration
commands and status queries through the data port receive pin.
You may select Bx mode from the

external GPS receiver. Please consult your GPS receiver user’s guide
for information regarding interface communication parameters.
3.2.4 Bx-E – Beacon Receiver Mode, External GPS
Display
In Bx-E operating mode, the GBX continues to output RTCM
corrections in the same manner as Bx mode, while accepting standard
NMEA 0183 GPS messages ($GPGGA, $GPVTG, $GPZDA, and
$GPGSV) from the external GPS receiver. The position, navigation,
and satellite information contained within these messages is parsed
and displayed by the GBX in the Position Status section of the menu
tree. This feature can be useful when working with an external GPS
receiver that does not provide a position display.
