Nutrient Removing Filtration System (NRFS) O&M Manual
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Nutrient Removing Filtration System (NRFS) is a denitrifying
media treatment vault that is commonly used at the end of a
detention pond or for off line pretreatment applications. The NRFS
is an orifice driven treatment vault for the removal of phosphorus,
nitrogen and total suspended solids. Bold & Gold Biosorption
Activated Media (BAM) is the exclusive media of choice in the
NRFS vault system.
The NRFS is highly effective in capturing Nitrogen, Phosphorus,
Total Suspended Solids, organics, trash, oils and grease. Independent
testing has shown the NRFS is capable of capturing up to 75% of
Nitrogen, 95% of Total Suspended Solids and 95% of Phosphorus.
Local and State regulations may require inspections and cleanings
every 90 days. Oldcastle Infrastructure recommends inspections be
conducted quarterly for optimal removal efficiency.
Benefits
• Low maintenance (media does not require removal for servicing)
• Easily retrofits existing watersheds
• No organics to degrade and lose treatment capability
• Servicing is accomplished quickly using a vacuum truck
• Removes phosphorus, nitrogen and TSS
• Uses genuine Bold & Gold Biosorption Activated Media
