Cycling
Cycling on an electric bicycle feels as if you are always being
given a push. You turn the pedals yourself, but they feel a
good deal lighter. The pedal assist starts working as soon
as you start to turn the pedals. It makes little difference
how hard you pedal. The assist automatically stops working
above a speed of 25 km/h.
You can set the amount of assist in the display (7). Your
battery will stay charged for longer if you opt for less assist
and use a smooth gear ratio. Your action radius will also
be affected by the wind, the temperature, the amount of
luggage, how hard the tyres are pumped up, the quality of
the road surface and the hills or mountains on your route.
Section 7 shows the maximum distance that you can cycle
with pedal assist under ideal conditions and with a new
battery.
Tips
–
Select a gear ratio that allows you to cycle smoothly.
Many people select too heavy a gear, which limits
the action radius. Try to stick to the same gear that
you would use without pedal assist, or even a bit
lighter. You should certainly select a light gear when
moving off.
–
Make sure that the bicycle is adapted to your
physical build. That way the bicycle will use less
power. Your dealer will be able to help you with this.
Make sure that the saddle is set to a height at which
your knees are slightly bent when the pedal is at its
lowest point (8).
–
Switch the walk assist on to walk the bicycle up a hill.
–
Do not pedal and brake at the same time.
Walking
Switch the walk assist on by holding in the drive and light
button to walk the bicycle up a hill (9).
Lights
Switch the lights on by briefl y pressing the drive and light
button (9). The lights also work when the battery has run
out. The lights will last for about three hours (if the bicycle is
switched on).
