Shelving High Filter
The Shelving High filter increases or decreases the SPL on higher frequencies (higher than
Fc
).
The Shelving High may be used instead of the Shelving Low to increase the bass level – by
decreasing the high range (treble) SPL. Hereby no risk of overloading your amplifier or
loudspeakers may occur. The only change required may be that the volume control of your
amplifier may have to be turned a little upwards to result in the desired SPL.
The Shelving High is similar to Shelving Low, but only changes higher frequencies SPL instead
of lower frequencies SPL.
An example of a 1000 Hertz Shelving High Filter with Q = 0.5 and Gain set at +5 dB can be
seen below:
