3.3.6 Ethernet Data Traffic Connections – CRS-311 to Modems
3.3.6.1 Ethernet Bridge Mode Data Traffic via the Optional GbE Interface
When the SLM ‐ 5650/5605A modems are equipped with the optional single ‐ port 10/100/1000
BaseT (GbE) Interface Module, Single ‐ Port Ethernet Bridge Mode is possible:
•
Configuration ‘A’ – Referring to Figure 3 ‐ 17 , when the CRS ‐ 311 is configured with the
CRS ‐ 306 or CRS ‐ 307 RMI and CRS ‐ 316 or CRS ‐ 336 TMI, connect and secure all
PP/CAT5FF3FTGY CAT5 Data Cables as follows:
o
From the RJ ‐ 45 connector labeled “J5” on the RMI or TMI, to the RJ ‐ 45
connector labeled “J1” on the Redundant or Traffic Modem optional GbE
Interface Module.

Configuration ‘B’ – Referring to Figure 3 ‐ 18 , when the CRS ‐ 311 is configured with the
CRS ‐ 505 RMI and CRS ‐ 515 TMI, connect and secure all PP/CAT5FF3FTGY CAT5 Data
Cables as follows:
o
From the RJ ‐ 45 connector labeled “Port 2” on the RMI or TMI to the RJ ‐ 45
connector labeled “J1” on the Redundant or Traffic Modem optional GbE
Interface Module.
3.3.6.2 Ethernet Bridge Mode Data Traffic via the Optional Network
Processor (NP) Interface
When the SLM ‐ 5650/5605A modems are equipped with the optional multi ‐ port Network
Processor (NP) Interface Module, Multi ‐ Port Ethernet Bridge Mode is possible.
Referring to Figure 3 ‐ 19 , connect and secure all PP/CAT5FF3FTGY CAT5 Data Cables as follows:
•
From the RJ ‐ 45 connectors labeled “Port 2” through “Port 4” on the RMI or TMI, to the
RJ ‐ 45 connectors labeled “Port 2” through “Port 4” on the Redundant or Traffic Modem
optional Network Processor (NP) Interface Module.
Do not connect to “Port 1” on the RMI, TMI, or to Port “1” on the optional
Network Processor (NP) Interface when operating in Multi ‐ Port Ethernet
Bridge Mode.
Do not connect to Port 1 on the RMI or TMI when operating in
Single ‐ Port Ethernet Bridge Mode.
