Client Program/Application Debug Mode (Step 4d) 

Turning on debug mode starts a special log that shows all DENIEDs that were processed when entering the 
proxy. The output may be used to help decide what domains/URLs should be entered in the Client 
Program/Application Bypass List (Step 4c). Do not just enter all of these entries. 

Note:

 

Do not enter ‘www’ or ‘http’ in front of the domain name.

As an example, you have a map program that is not working. You run the debug mode and see the list 
generated by the debug mode. One of the items says 

download.maps.com

. This entry would be suspect and 

should be tried in the Client Program/Application Bypass List. 

Enable Debug Mode 

By default, this option is disabled.

Yes

Enables the special debug mode

Execute

, ComSifter will search the log and show DENIEDs that were processed. 

Note:

 

Due to the large amount of traffic that may be logged, the debug mode will be 
automatically terminated after five (5) minutes. The debug mode would be to be 
re-executed if another issue arises. 

Best results can be achieved during off-peak 

times—either early morning or late evening. 

 

Note:

 

The results page may not immediately show results. It may be necessary to 
refresh the page at least once to view results.
