1 Saftey guidelines
The ColorLite sph860/sph900 spectrophotometer has been
designed using latest electronic and optical components.
It is characterized by the highest quality and complies
with all relevant norms and standards.
1.1 Meaning of notice symbols

1.2 Safety issues for the device
•
The device must not be in explosion hazardous areas.
• Do not look directly into the probe head when
measuring because of the risk of dazzling.
• Do not open or disassemble the device.
• Avoid excessive temperature changes.
• The instrument may be used only in accordance with
the specified protection class (IP code).
• Operate the device only with the designated battery
or the support with integrated power supply
(optional).
1.3 Safety issues for the rechargeable battery
• Disconnect the battery charger from the power supply
if it is not used.
• Use only the supplied charger.
• Prevent the battery pack from being exposed to ex-
cessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
• Do not short the battery pack.
1.4 Specified use
The sph860/sph900 is a portable device with a separate
flexible probe head that can be held during the measure-
ment.
With the device colour values are determined by spectral
measurement of the reflected light from the surface of an
object or material. The LED light source is integrated in
the sensor head.
Depending on the accessories the device can also be used
to measurement the colour of liquids, granules and pow-
der.
The sensor head can be manufactured and delivered as
required, in different IP protection classes.
