Set the contents of the software configuration register by entering the
config-register

command, where

is a hexadecimal number preceded
by 0x.

Ctrl-Z
to exit global configuration mode.

Enter the
show version
command to verify the software configuration register
value that is currently in effect, and the new value you entered (in Step 3) the next
time the router reloads.

Enter the
copy running-config startup-config
command to save the software
configuration register settings to NVRAM.

Step 7
Reboot the system.
Note
Configuration register changes take effect only after the system reboots
(for example, when you enter a
reload
command from the console).
