The
GETEST
can be powered directly from the mains (230 V
~
and 50 Hz) or from a single-phase
generator set.
The required power of the generator set will come as a function of the value of the loop resistance of
the circuit. This means that the larger the loop resistance (ground to be checked plus auxiliary ground),
the more powerful the generator set must be in order to inject the current required by the user.
It is recommended that the line be protected by: 50 A B-curve Circuit Breaker or 30 A
C-curve Circuit Breaker or 16 A D-curve Circuit Breaker, according to EN 60898. In this
way, possible triggering of the protections would be avoided when making measure-
ments with the device.
In case of using lower capacity devices, the
GETEST
will not be able to supply the
maximum power.
Despite the fact that the
GETEST
, due to its current injection system, does not require high-capacity
wiring or connectors, it is recommended that the section of the power cables be as large as possible
and of the shortest possible length, to reduce voltage losses, which will affect the maximum capacity
of the device.
By means of an example, the x indicates the maximum earth resistance that can be injected according
to the current, depending on the power cable used.

Should a coiled extension cord be used to connect the
GETEST
to the mains, it is nec-
essary to
fully
unroll
it to carry out the test, likewise for the current and voltage rolls
supplied with the device.
Due to the nature of the device, an injection of several amps may cause some distur-
bance to power lines.
Depending on the quality of the supply lines, the supply voltage can drop by up to 20%
for 20 ms, it is recommended that device that is sensitive to these variations in the line
be disconnected before taking measurements.
