Xtreme Tree Reaper Brush Cutter

5.0 Troubleshooting Chart

Cutter bogs down or
loses power.

Excessive Vibration.

Blades dull too quickly
or are breaking too
easily.

Hydraulic oil level
goes down during
operation.

Blades do not rotate

when flow is activated.

Deck is not leveled properly.

Foreign material is “balling” under
deck.

Bearing Failure - (To diagnose this

cause, shutoff hydraulic flow to

cutter then slowly rotate the blade
holder assembly and listen for
bearing noise).

Cutter speed too slow or ground
speed too fast.

Oil flow too slow.

Missing, loose, damaged or
unbalanced blades.
Blade Holder Damaged.
Bearing Failure.

Blades are receiving excessive
shock loads from contacting solid
objects (rocks, steel pipes, etc.)

Hydraulic Motor Leak, or leaks in
prime mover’s hydraulic system.

Hydraulic motor or bearing housing
failure.

Hydraulic lines disconnected.

Problem with skid steer hydraulic
controls.

Refer to page 25 for leveling
information.

Remove foreign material from
under cutter deck.

See dealer for bearing housing
service; replace Bearing Housing.

Increase engine RPMs and reduce
ground speed.

Look for hydraulic leaks, and repair.
Replace damaged blades.

Replace blade holder.
Repair or replace bearing housing.

Clear the cutting area of solid
objects, avoid solid objects, raise
cutter height to clear exposed rock
surfaces.

Investigate and repair leaks.

Contact dealer for repair service.

Connect hydraulic lines to skid
steer couplers. Ensure hoses are
locked in place.
Contact skid dealer for diagnosis
and repair.
