VLAN member port
It is member port that contained by VLAN including all member ports of this VLAN.
PORT VLAN is simpler than 802.1Q VLAN. It will not look for VLAN domain broadcast according to PVID and VLAN message
that contained by data packet. When
S
is configured to PORT VLAN mode, all data packet that go through switch
will index 26 PORT VLAN group of the switch. If output port and input port exist in member port of any PORT VLAN group,
this packet can be forward normally. Otherwise the packet will be dropped.
4.4.3 PROTECTED VLAN
Protected VLAN is a special VLAN mode. User can choose to configure VLAN to connect with uplink port fast in
S
.
Features of protected VLAN:
Only one configuration need to be taken to protected VLAN. It is to choose uplink port. When you have selected an uplink
port, the other 25 ports connect with uplink port individually to form relative VLAN. All of these 25 ports can communicate
with uplink port but they can not communicate each other. It protects separate security of uplink and downlink hosts.
Meanwhile it ensures every downlink port can visit WEB normally. As the figure below shows, under protected VLAN mode,
when 26 port is configured as uplink port, all hosts connect with 1-25 ports of
S
can not visit each other but all of
them can communicate with uplink network that connected with 26 port.
Notice: When uplink port is set to 0, it means there is no uplink port in the switch. Each port can communicate normally.
4.5 Trunk configuration
Trunk is a kind of port aggregation mechanism.
Generally port aggregation is applied to aggregate multiple ports in order to compose a high bandwidth data transmission
channel. Switch recognizes all aggregated ports as a logic port.
S switch can build 3 trunk groups. You should follow the following rules:
1. Trunk must be 2 to 4 ports. You can not aggregate 4 or more ports or just aggregate one port to a trunk;
In addition, Trunk also has Link Fail Over function, when some member trunk chain is disconnected; switch will assign these
data to another chain of this trunk in order to maintain trunk data transmission. When the disconnected chain is reconnected
again, it will recover to original load balance.
2. Member ports of trunk group 1 and group 2 must be 100M port and port 1 can not be trunk member port. Member of
trunk group 3 must be 25, 26 1000M port.
3. You can configure port attribute like PVID, flow control, broadcast storm control etc through trunk group. Meanwhile you
