GETTING THE MOST
Once you have installed the ARIA A6600 and connected all your equipment, it's time to enjoy the convenience
and pleasure of cinema quality sound throughout the house. Please take a moment to review some helpful tips
that will help ensure you have the best experience possible.
1. Cinemas are specifically designed to provide a great listening environment and illustrate some important prin-
ciples that should be mimicked in your listening environment.
2. Using the illustration of attending a movie: as you enter, you probably notice the heavy drapery and thick
carpeting on the walls and floor. While these added elegance and comfort, they were really installed as
acoustic treatments. They prevent the sound from reflecting and bouncing around the room distorting the
audio. Evaluate your listening area and see if you can do the same. Closing the curtains for example, can
have a big affect. Also, opening (or closing) a door to an adjoining room, while seemingly trivial, can have an
impact on your sound environment. You may even want to consider having an acoustic expert come in and do
an evaluation of your room and offer suggestions. Alternatively, searching the web for Room Acoustics will
yield many sources of information and low cost ideas to help you get the best environment possible.
3. The speakers inside the cinema were specifically placed for optimum affect. There is a row of speakers
mounted high and running horizontally down the walls on your right and left sides. These reproduce the bulk
of the audio drawing you into the scene. There is another set of speakers behind you reproducing both the
ambient affects and other spatial information that 'wrap' you into the center of the action. Yet another, hidden
from view, caused the earth-shaking vibration that brought the scene to life. Behind the screen is the center
channel speaker carrying the dialogue that keeps you focused and properly oriented. All these worked in con-
cert to give you the best possible enjoyment. Try to imitate this pattern in your home.
