Routine Maintenance Can Prevent Tragedies

• Starting with the door in the closed position, use the

anual disconnect on the opener to disconnect the door.
• Look for signs of wear or da
m
age on hinges, rollers, springs, and door panels.
• These
parts
m
ay require periodic lubrication. Check the owner’s
m
anual for suggested
m
aintenance.
• If any signs of da
m
age are evident, contact a trained door syste
m
s technician for assistance.
• Verify the photoeye height is no higher than 6" fro
m
the garage fl oor.
• Open and close the door
m
anually using handles or suitable gripping points.
• The door should
m
ove freely and without diffi culty.
•
The door should balance and stay partially open 3–4 feet above the fl oor.
• If you detect any signs of i

proper operation, contact a trained door syste
m
s technician for assistance.
• Reconnect the opener to the door using the
m
anual disconnect and open the door.
• Place a 2x4 board fl at in the path of the door (1) and try to close it (2). The door should stop when it
co
m
es in contact with the 2x4 and then reverse direction.
• Block the photoelectric sensor by waving an object in front of the sensor and atte
m
pt to close the door.
The door should not close unless the wall-
m
ounted push button is
m
anually held during operation.

assistance.
Make

onthly inspection and testing of your garage door and opener syste
m
a part of your regular routine. Review your owner’s
m
anual for both the door and door opener. If you don’t have the owner’s
m
anuals, contact the

anufacturer(s) and request a copy for your specifi c
m
odel(s). Look for the opener
m
odel nu
m
ber on the back of the power unit.
